He had enormous experience sailing IMOCAs, and he wanted an extreme machine. Optimized from keel to truck, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRB<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was laid up in the <\/span><b>same mould as<\/b><b><i> Safran<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, her hard-chined hull having almost vertical sides. However <\/span><b>her rigging was radically different <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a rotating wing-mast supported by outriggers.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10572\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10572\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10572\" src=\"https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/imoca-prb-vincent-riou-1-768x384-1-300x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/imoca-prb-vincent-riou-1-768x384-1-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/imoca-prb-vincent-riou-1-768x384-1.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10572\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9 Beno\u00eet Stichelbaut\/PRB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRB<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was designed with <\/span><b>solo racing and circumnavigating<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in mind, in particular her deck layout. She was built in three different yards and assembled by CDK Technologies, resulting in <\/span><b>one of the lightest IMOCAs ever built<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Twice champion of the Transat Jacques Vabre (2013, 2015), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRB<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was <\/span><b>optimized relentlessly<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> throughout her career. In 2018 Juan Kouyoumdjian had her <\/span><b>fitted with foils<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and raced her to fourth place in the Route du Rhum.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10575\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10575\" style=\"width: 701px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10575\" src=\"https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/imoca-prb-vendee-globe-kevin-escoffier-min-768x512-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/imoca-prb-vendee-globe-kevin-escoffier-min-768x512-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/imoca-prb-vendee-globe-kevin-escoffier-min-768x512-1.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 701px) 100vw, 701px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10575\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9 Yann Riou\/polaRYSE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2019 she was briefly named <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ark\u00e9a Paprec<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and, under the command of S\u00e9bastien Simon, claimed victory in the Bermudes\u00a01000 Race before reverting to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRB<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the second half of the season when she made second place in the Transat Jacques Vabre with <\/span><b>Kevin Escoffier<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the helm. Serious damage suffered in <\/span><b>the 2020 Vend\u00e9e Globe brought her career to an abrupt end<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, sinking in a very short space of time.
