style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Banque Populaire\u00a0VIII<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>winner of the 2016\u201317 Vend\u00e9e Globe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: \u201cRather than aiming for versatility, we designed a boat which could <\/span><b>achieve significant gains\u00a060% of the time<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and smaller losses\u00a020% of the time.\u201d As with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Safran\u00a0II<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Banque Populaire\u00a0VIII<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> features a bulky bow section, a powerful hull shape with a significant righting moment and, of course, foils.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure 400;\">, supported by the much talked about appendages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Winner of the Vend\u00e9e Globe in 74 days and 3 hours with skipper Armel Le Cl\u00e9ac\u2019h, the 60-footer then went to <\/span><b>Louis Burton<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who, sailing in the livery of Bureau Vall\u00e9e, caused a sensation in the following edition of the single-handed round-the-world race by<\/span><b> finishing in third place<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10327\"
