{"id":4152,"date":"2021-07-26T14:21:28","date_gmt":"2021-07-26T12:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.vplp.fr\/?p=4152"},"modified":"2023-11-29T16:50:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T15:50:07","slug":"svr-lazartigue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/en\/racing\/svr-lazartigue\/","title":{"rendered":"SVR Lazartigue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Macif 101<\/strong><\/em> then <em><strong>SVR Lazartigue<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Successor to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Macif\u00a0100<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">M101<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was renamed <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SVR-Lazartigue<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at her launch on 22 July 2021. She embodies everything that VPLP has learned about the design of Ultim trimarans, expertise leveraged by <\/span><b>Fran\u00e7ois Gabart<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and his team <\/span><b>MerConcept<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in their endeavour to build <\/span><b>a boat capable of flying over the ocean for long periods<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Macif\u00a0100<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was designed to sail on average with 20% of her central hull in the water, there was no doubt that her successor\u2019s goal was to <\/span><b>achieve \u201cdry-hull\u201d sailing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cWe <\/span><b>started out completely from scratch<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d says Xavier Guilbaud, project leader at VPLP, \u201cto the point that we seriously thought about making her a catamaran!<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the end we kept the trimaran for safety reasons and because it\u2019s also the least extreme option.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9651\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9651\" style=\"width: 700px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9651\" src=\"https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/SVR-LAZARTIGUE_-Guillaume-Gatefait-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/SVR-LAZARTIGUE_-Guillaume-Gatefait-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dev2024.vplp.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/SVR-LAZARTIGUE_-Guillaume-Gatefait.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9651\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9 Guillaume Gatefait<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This didn\u2019t prevent the design team from choosing certain radical options, in particular for the aerodynamics of the platform.
